Italy-China scientific relations are conducted at the highest level through the October 27 conference in Beijing which brings together Professor Andrea de Guttry, director Sant’Anna School Dirpolis (Law, Politics and Development) Institute, the Ombudsman of Beijing Municipality and 300 participants from all over China. The conference will focus on the current challenges of the European Union after the British exit from the Union ("Brexit"). Speakers will address topics such as the fears about globalization and immigration, anti-elite and anti-establishment sentiments, foreign policy and security issues, counter-terrorism and foreign policy of president Trump administration.

Professor Andrea de Guttry commented that: “The invitation to the conference by the Ombudsman of Beijing Municipality shows the specific intent of Chinese representatives to develop a closer cooperation to face common challenges in specific areas of joint interest. International cooperation is a core part of the EU's engagement with China to ensure stability and security. This conference is being held after the 19th Chinese Communist Party Congress that saw China taking an active role in developing the governance system; I am sure their domestic politics will have an impact on the EU-China relations in the international context.
