The Prospective Students Summer Program, jointly organized by the federated Scuola Normale, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS di Pavia universities, represents a first point of contact with university colleges for students graduating from high school. The prospective students have the opportunity to explore several options before choosing colleges. The Prospective Students Summer Program is hosted in Pisa - Sant’Anna School from June 26 to July 1.

The Prospective Students Summer Program offers a structured guidance stimulating a conscious choice through seminars, lectures, educational and team building activities. The 100 participants were selected from a pool of 2,000 candidates in January 2017. Students were designated by their principals and admitted to the program on the basis of their achievements in high school (their average score is 9.5 out of 10), their personal aptitude and motivation.

Boys and girls attending the jointly organized summer program in Pisa are offered the opportunity to find out about all aspects of university life, with activities ranging from tours to presentations. Programs include talks, subject lectures, seminars and the opportunity to talk with tutors and university students currently committed to tackling the robotics challenge, computer revolution and big data, topics in cross-border medical and biological research.

The event sees academics presenting plans for joint research initiatives, which will have several main areas of focus: environmental sustainability; social issues; global health and well-being. On Saturday, July 1, at 10.30 am, Andrea Zorzi, a former volleyball player who won two men’s world championships, will give his thoughts on talent, “winners and losers”.

Attendance, board and lodging for the Prospective Students Summer Program are free of charge. The launch event of June 26 is part of a new pioneering university alliance and of the “Scuola di Orientamento Universitario” partnership between Scuola Normale, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS di Pavia. The three leading universities are called for greater responsibility on higher education institutes to work together and make an impact on the challenges the university community faces today.

More events are scheduled to take place in June 2017 in San Miniato – Pisa and at IUSS Pavia on July 10-15.
