The QS World University Rankings: for the first time, Pisa Normale and Sant’Anna now have been named in the global Top 200 Universities
Released today, the QS rankings recognize for the first time the Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna as the 30th best institutions in the world for excellent research and innovation. As many as 4,388 institutions were considered and 956 overall ranked. Universities continue to be evaluated according to the following metrics: academic and employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty, international faculty and student ratio. Normale and Sant’Anna can be proud and honored to be the top-rated, taking 30th place, compared with other institutions across Europe, Asia and USA’s leading higher education hubs.
Focusing on the indicator assessing the research impact, Normale ranked 18th best university in the world and Sant’Anna ranked 27th. The indicator assessing 75.000 academics all over the world has placed the Università di Bologna in the 77th position and the Sapienza - Roma in the 86th. The expert opinion of 40,455 employers were analyzed and the Università Commerciale Luigi Bocconi ranked 30th for this indicator followed by the Politecnico di Milano in 53rd place.
Overall, 4 universities in Italy are considered among the best in the global top 200, the Politecnico di Milano (170th), the Università di Bologna (188th) and the two Schools for Advanced Studies in Pisa. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is the world's leading university for a record sixth consecutive year. The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) joins Stanford and Harvard featuring in the top 4 this year.
