44 Italian spinoff companies have been selected to participate in 8-11 January CES 2019 Las Vegas, the world's gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. Among others, the Sant’Anna School PECRO Lab. spinoff company VR media S.r.l., showed off their newest creation, Kiber, the next generation AI helmet assistant, that they have been developing at the TeCIP Institute for the last two years. Kiber is mainly aimed at manufacturers and companies allowing workers to access and send digital data (photos, files and codes) about their activity in real time. It empowers workers to perform their job better through real-time contextual information and task instructions.

Virtual and Augmented Reality assisted manufacturing and 3D visualization save time, reduces errors and improves the quality of products. Kiber’s AR smart assistance can make video recordings on repairs and inspections and share data in an automatic way. Supporting technicians in remote operations, the helmet enables bidirectional communication between workers to improve the health and safety of employees potentially at risk from ATEX explosive atmospheres (the EU ATEX Directive relates to equipment which is used in hazardous areas i.e. locations with concentrations of flammable gases, combustible dusts and vapors creating a potentially explosive atmosphere).

Thanks to the “made in Italy” robot postman, Internet of Things enabled security bicycles, the portable electric skateboard, the wristband device for bikers that vibrates to signal speed cameras and the Kiber helmet, Italy stepped out in a major way at CES 2019.
