Awards: Vincenzo Lionetti, professor of anesthesiology at Sant'Anna School's Interdisciplinary Health Science Research Center, elected president of the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Research (SIRC) for the three-year period 2023-2025

Vincenzo Lionetti, professor of anesthesiology at the Interdisciplinary Health Science Research Center of the Sant'Anna School, has been elected president of the Italian Society of Cardiovascular Research (SIRC) for the three-year period 2023-2025. The society, a nonprofit organization established in 1993, aims to promote the integration into daily medical practice of the latest developments in cardiovascular biology in order to bridge the gap between basic and applied research their clinical translation. In addition, SIRC strongly encourages the interconnection of the most diverse branches of biology, physiology, and medicine applied to cardiovascular sciences to carry out its scientific and clinical mission, and to advise educational institutions, government agencies, and public health officials.
