Bio
I am a postdoctoral research fellow in Law at the Institute of Law, Politics and Development (DIRPOLIS) at Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies. I am also a member of Sant'Anna's Center for Inter-Legality Research (CIR).
My research deals with the legal rationality of climate change, investigated through the prism of philosophy of technique (or of 'technology' as some prefer) and the case in point of the European Green Deal. My main fields of research is Jurisprudence, mostly from a socio-legal and interdisciplinary perspective. Other interests of mine are the fields of globalization, hermeneutics, and of law & literature.
Prior to my PhD journey at Sant'anna (2023), I obtained my Masters Degree in Legal Theory (2018) at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, Portugal. I was a visiting PhD researcher at the Department of Management, Politics and Philosophy at the Copenhagen Business School (2022), in Denmark. And part of my LLM research was carried out in the Interdepartmental Centre for Research in the History, Philosophy and Sociology of Law and in Computer Science and Law (CIRSFID), at the University of Bologna (2017), Italy.
Before arriving in Europe, I obtained my Bachelor in Law from the University of Vila Velha/ES (2015), my hometown in Brazil. I am also a licensed attorney, enrolled at the Brazilian National Bar Association (OAB).
Research
My research deals with a specific set of effects the green (and planned) industrial revolution might have on Law's rationality, as a consequence of the ever-increasing science-oriented, fact-based, policy-making on climate change matters.
Law plays a key role in setting up the changes to come, both in its elaboration and adjudicatory moments - climate change litigation greatly exemplifies such. I am thus interested in exploring some of the impacts this dynamic might have on the realm of the law.
