Bio

Laura Galassi is a Ph.D. student in the BioRobotic Istitute, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna. She completed the Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engeneering in Università Politecnica delle Marche in July 2020 and the MSc degree in Bionics Engineering (110/110 cum laude) in Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna and the University of Pisa in April 2023. She is currently working toward a Ph.D. degree in Soft Mechatronics for Biorobotics Lab. She is currently involved in VENART project, whose goal is the development of a robotic artificial heart ventricle.

Research

The focus of her research interests lies in the coupling between soft robotics and biomedical applications. She deeply committed to the development of soft technologies, which have the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional robotics, ensuring a safe interaction with humans, greater biocompatibility, and the ability to mimic physiological motions and tissues. She is strongly interested in the field of artificial organs and implatable devices. She is currently developing a soft artificial heart ventricle.
