The Sant’Anna School for Advanced Studies received a donation of 10,000 euro from the Lions Club 108La to support the research on the MICAL protein which may stop cancer metastasis.

The Board of Directors of Sant’Anna School officially accepted the donation of 10,000 euro from Carlo Bianucci, district governor of Lions Club 108La, to Debora Angeloni, researcher and project coordinator at Sant’Anna School Institute of Life Sciences. The Lions Club 108La donation will support the work of early-career researchers selected also through interviewing scientists who have been working on current challenges in medical research.

Carlo Bianucci, district governor of Lions Club 108La, met a group of young researchers and Debora Angeloni who was then invited to the conference “Democrazia partecipativa delle donne: Società, Politica, Economia a 70 anni dal voto”, which took place in Florence. On the occasion of the meeting on the current role of the women scientists in our society, she was awarded the “Melvin Jones Fellowship”;  this award is a high form of recognition which embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of the Lions Club worldwide.
