This goal is crucial for economic and social development, combating climate change, and achieving the other sustainable development goals.

Why it's important:

• Adequate infrastructure, such as roads, railways, ports, internet connections and energy networks, is essential for the functioning of societies and for economic and social development.
• Inclusive and sustainable industrialization can create decent jobs, reduce poverty and improve people's living standards.
• Innovation is the engine of progress and allows us to find creative solutions to global challenges such as climate change, poverty and disease.

Specific targets:

• By 2030, develop resilient and inclusive infrastructure, with universal and equitable access and services for all, particularly for the vulnerable and marginalized.
• Promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and significantly increase the share of the manufacturing sector in the gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030.
• Significantly increase the share of industries and other sectors that use modern and environmentally friendly technologies by 2030.
• Enhance international cooperation to facilitate access to clean energy research, development and technology, including renewable energy technologies, especially in developing countries and small island developing states.
• Substantially reduce the proportion of youth not in employment, education or training.
