The seminar will introduce students to the Frontiers in Humanoid Cognitive Robots - “Le nuove frontiere della robotica cognitiva e l’interazione uomo-robot”. Barbara Henry, professor of political philosophy at Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Sviluppo), will give her talk at 4.00 pm on Friday, February 23 at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Storici, via Benedetto Croce 12, Palazzo Filomarino.

The research seminars “Tecnologie digitali e scienze umane” organized by the Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica e Tecnologie dell’Informazione dell’Università Federico II di Napoli (DIETI)  and by the Istituto italiano per gli Studi Storici are expert-led discussions on technological challenges and cognitive neuroscience.

Debates about conscious robots and hazards for human beings are no more confined to philosophers and engineers. Scientists aim to a multidisciplinary approach among cognitive robotics, epigenetic and affective robotics, developmental robotics and biomimetic robotics. Facing the problem of consciousness in robots may raise ethical, legal and moral concerns in the developing market for intelligent service robots with interactive capabilities.
