On 11 and 12 April the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies will host the event Cross-Border Disaster Assistance: Legal and Institutional Aspects”, a specialized workshop of the EU KAPP project EUMA (Creating a EUropean Higher Education Network for MAster’s Programmes in Disaster Risk Management).

The EUMA project received funding from DG ECHO (European Commission) to enhance the skills and knowledge of individual staff members of civil protection authorities and disaster managers. Managed by a consortium of seven universities and coordinated by the University of Vienna, the project involves several practical activities, including a series of workshops that will take place over the next two years. The ultimate objective is to establish an innovative, high-level, and tailor-made postgraduate Master’s programme on disaster risk and crisis management.

The inaugural workshop, organised by Professor Emanuele Sommario, will focus on the legal and institutional aspects of cross-border humanitarian assistance. Distinguished experts will lead group discussions on the main topic. Participants in the workshop include representatives of the Italian Air Force, Army, Fire and Rescue Service and Red Cross as well as members of foreign governmental and non-governmental institutions and other partner universities. The outcomes of these discussions will be incorporated into a final report, influencing the curriculum development of the new Master’s programme.

The agenda of the event is attached.
