AMMISA, the Alumni Association of the Institute of Management at the Sant'Anna School, is organizing its fifth meeting on Friday and Saturday, November 18 and 19, at the Aula Magna of the Sant'Anna School, titled "Leggerezza e pesantezza", and marks the beginning of a celebrations on the occasion of the centenary of Italo Calvino's birth, which will fall in 2023. The tribute aims to examine the "Sei lezioni americane", emphasizing its importance as one of the few humanists to inaugurate the Charles Eliot Norton Poetry Lectures, in 1985 at Harvard, and analyzing its teachings in a new interpretive key.

In fact, the strength of the writer's arguments and his "proposals for the new millennium" increasingly represent a key to interpreting innovation and growth, as well as an inspirational reminder to managers of the value of humanistic culture, which, together with scientific one, is indispensable in managing both social and organizational change scenarios and the great technological changes taking place. For this reason, after institutional greetings by Rector Sabina Nuti, AMMISA President Fabrizio Marsili and Institute of Management Director Andrea Piccaluga, the Friday, November 18th conference will open precisely with an analysis and rereading of Calvinian lectures with a talk by former student Andrea Prencipe, now rector of LUISS University and author of the book "L’Innovatore Rampante”. This will be followed by reflections by Andrea Bonaccorsi, professor of Management Engineering at the University of Pisa and founder of AMMISA, about "Stories of Lightness and Scalability", and Paolo Ferragina, professor of Algorithms at the University of Pisa, among many others.
