The International Day of Zero Waste

The first celebration of The International Day of Zero Waste took place on 30 March 2023, after the establishment of the day approved by the UN Assembly on 14 December 2022.
The waste-related emergency represents a problem of crucial importance for the protection of our planet. In recent years, unsustainable practices related to production and consumption are significantly worsening the situation.
In the modern era, it is imperative to strengthen waste management and develop preventative solutions. Improving collection, promoting recycling and adopting other waste management practices are among the most pressing priorities of our time.
The objective of The International Day of Zero Waste is therefore to promote initiatives aimed at reducing waste production to a minimum, thus contributing to the progress of the objectives and targets of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
