“EU Law on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Agriculture after the European Green Deal” (Jean Monnet Module)
Progetto SUSTAIN

This interdisciplinary Jean Monnet Module, entitled “EU Law on Sustainable and Climate-Resilient Agriculture after the European Green Deal - SUSTAIN” aims to promote knowledge and dissemination of EU actions on sustainable and climate-smart agriculture through training courses, seminars, workshops, and a final conference both for students and professionals. Teaching will combine legal and policy studies with experimentation in an interdisciplinary environment (covering law, politics, and ICT). Within the three-years period of the SUSTAIN Jean Monnet Module, the AgLAW research team organized and hosted three interdisciplinary Summer schools (titled: “EU law on Digital Agriculture” in October 2021; “CAP 2023-2027 and sustainable agri-food systems”, in July 2022; and “Sustainable farming and food systems in the EU law and policy framework”, in July 2023). These Summer Schools analyze the main policy and legal implications for farming and food systems within the policy framework of the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy, the Biodiversity Strategy and the post 2020 CAP-reform. Thanks to them, the participants have acquired a wide understanding of EU agricultural and food law, the legal framework on digital agriculture, and the new Common Agricultural Policy. The Training Courses will support their research activities (for undergraduate, graduate and PhD students) or their professional competences (for professionals, such as lawyers, international/regional organization officers; public servants working on agricultural and rural development, agricultural engineers).
