Cooperation between Italy and Chad is consolidated, thanks to the contribution of the Sant'Anna School. For the fourth time, our country is organizing a training course directed to 20 Chadian magistrates and judges. The new advanced training course coordinated by Andrea de Guttry, Full Professor of International Law at the Sant'Anna School, kicks off on Monday June, 5 with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the collaboration of the Ministry of Justice of Chad, focusing on the fight against terrorism, organized crime and human trafficking.

This project aims to strengthen the capacity of Chadian magistrates and prosecutors to address the new internal and transactional security challenges generated by criminal and terrorist networks. The lessons aim to consolidate the knowledge of local magistrates related to the national and international legal framework on terrorism, organized crime and human trafficking, including through the analysis of case studies and the latest judicial practices, a key tool to strengthen the criminal justice response in the fight against organized crime at the transnational level. The course features Italian and African experts, including Federico Belli, a judge at the Court of Asti.

The organization of this new advanced training course for Chad is part of the project "Rafforzare i sistemi giudiziari dei Paesi africani attraverso la formazione (2022-23)", in which the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies has been engaged for several years in training and assistance activities in the Sahel region.

"The Sant'Anna School is proud to contribute to this important technical cooperation project, which aims to strengthen the skills of magistrates in Sahelian countries in the fight against human trafficking and international terrorism", says Andrea de Guttry, the project's scientific coordinator. "We are convinced that through training and strengthening judicial institutions it is possible to promote the rule of law in a key area for the stability of the African continent and Europe".
