HUMAN RIGHTS TRAINING: jANUARY 24, 2019, FOURTH ENTRI TRAINING COURSE ON HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION IN ETHIOPIA, A EU FUNDED PROJECT FOR CONFLICT PREVENTION AND PEACEBUILDING

The Training Course on Human Rights Protection 2019 “International Standards for the Protection of Individuals and Groups: A Training Course for Field Officers Working on Human Rights”, is an annual event organized by Professor Andrea de Guttry of Sant’Anna School Dirpolis Institute and the School of Law of University of Addis Ababa. This course, funded by “Europe’s New Training Initiative for Civilian Crisis Management” ENTRi project, will take place in Addis Ababa on January 24-February 1.

The ENTRi project gathers 13 European partners to support the field presence and peace-building activities of the European Union by fostering cooperation. Italy plays a key role in peace building and conflict resolution practices. Under the scientific supervision of Professor Andrea de Guttry, this course is designed for human rights officers working in organizations such as the United Nations (UN), the European Union, and NGOs operating in Sudan, Ethiopia, DR Congo, Kenya, Kosovo, Malawi and Georgia. The program aims at strengthening cooperation and peace building in crisis zones and conflict regions in Africa, specifically, the ethnic conflicts caused by the politicisation of tribal identity in Ethiopia.

This training program in Addis Ababa celebrates the success of our initiatives to promote and uphold human rights. Ethiopia’s current government has been more successful in managing ethnic tensions in the country but has to guarantee stability and equity more effectively”.
