SANT’ANNA ACHIEVES HIGHEST EVER POSITION IN THE TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION RANKINGS: IT IS FOURTH IN THE WORLD IN THE YOUNG UNIVERSITY RANKINGS 2020. TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION AND ELSEVIER PARTNERS ANNOUNCE THE RESULTS IN THIS YEAR’S LEAGUE TABLE
Sant’Anna School continues to make progress in the World Young University Rankings. The THE – Times Higher Education in partnership with Elsevier continue to innovate their research metrics analysis to evaluate national and international performance for universities that are 50 years old or younger. The highly regarded THE Young University Rankings 2020, one of the most reputable source of performance indicators in higher education, has acknowledged today June 24, 2020, the key educational played by the Sant’Anna School (established in 1987) that has moved up three places to reach its highest ever position.
Sant’Anna is now the world’s 4th best young university, ranking among the top institutions in Italy and in Europe. Having developed the capacity to compete in the global higher education marketplace through activities and accomplishments that contribute to solve today's complex challenges, Sant’Anna can join those universities (mostly in China) that compete intensively and invest in a world-class performance-based approach for developing advanced knowledge and serve their communities. This year, were ranked The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Nanyang Technological Univertsity of Singapore, first and second respectively.
Today, Professor Sabina Nuti, rector of Sant’Anna School, welcomed the THE Young University Rankings 2020 results. Recognising the quality of teaching and research undertaken at Sant’Anna, Nuti participated in the international webinar showcasing how rankings can help students select their university and university leaders including Kate Mc Grath, vice rector at the Sydney University of Technology and Jaume Casals, rector of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra di Barcellona, to discuss strategic priorities with moderator Nick Fowler, as the Chief Academic Officer of Elsevier.
Results from the rankings give the most comprehensive guide to higher education and can support effective development of national policies. The Times Higher Education league table performance indicators include areas of teaching, research (volume, income, and reputation), citations (research influence), technology transfer and international outlook.
Times Higher Education used performance data in combination with assessment grades through a process of standardisation developed with statistical experts to evaluate specific disciplines at each young university.
Times Higher Education used Elsevier's Scopus data for analysing research performance from a greater number of institutions.
To reach the largest audience, Sant’Anna has partnered with the Wall Street Journal.
