#25November is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established in 1999 by the UN General Assembly to remember the three Mirabal sisters, political activists who were tortured and murdered in 1960 in the Dominican Republic on the orders of dictator Rafael Trujllo.
According to the latest UN report, more than 1 in 3 women experience gender-based violence in their lifetime. Our moral duty is to break the silence and denounce all forms of violence against women and girls.

To offer help and support, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, together with the University of Pisa and the Scuola Normale Superiore, has set up an The Inter-University Desk against gender violence. In the first months of its existence, the desk has already registered several accesses, a symptom of a phenomenon that is endemic and can only be countered with targeted and timely action.
