FISR COVID-19 project (concluded)

Innovative models for the legal implementation of the One Health approach in the context of pandemic emergencies
firs covid project

The aim of the FISR COVID-19 project is to propose innovative models for the legal implementation of the One Health approach in the context of pandemic emergencies. The project focuses on the relationship between scientific communities (experts) and public institutions (decision-makers) in order to verify whether or not this relationship, as legally configured by the different sources in the different areas of relevance, guarantees the multidimensionality of competences required by the One Health approach.

The project, therefore, proposes to incorporate the interdisciplinary One Health approach into the law for the prevention and management of risks related to future pandemics. In particular, the research aims to analyze and critically evaluate:

  • the range of organizational and procedural models through which scientists, or exponents of communities of researchers and experts in different fields of knowledge, institutionally structure their consultative dialogue with the political and administrative authorities responsible for the prevention and management of pandemic emergencies;
  • how these bodies and processes are linked in the relationship between the international, European, national, regional and local levels;
  • whether, how and to what extent the different organisational and procedural models and their interactions guarantee the multidimensionality of competences required by the One Health approach, also in relation to the SDGs of the 2030 Agenda, while ensuring transparency, institutional communication and public accessibility.

The Aglaw research group participated in this project together with the Università del Salento and the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro.
