CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST: ONE NON-TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION IN STATISTICS AND ITS APPLICATIONS TO THE SOCIAL SCIENCES, AND ONE NON-TENURE TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION.
Following the award of a grant from the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research, the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies established EMbeDS, a Department of Excellence for Economics and Management in the era of Data Science (see https://embeds.santannapisa.it), with the contribution of the Institute of Economics and the Institute of Management.
As part of the recruitment linked to EMbeDS, the Institute of Management of the School launches a call for expressions of interest to identify potential candidates for one full-time non-tenure track 5-year Assistant Professor position (RTD-A) in Statistics and its applications to the Social Sciences, and one full-time non-tenure track 5-year Assistant Professor position (RTD-A) in Business Administration.
Successful candidates will have a PhD in Statistics, Economics, Management, Business Administration or related areas, a strong record of research and teaching, an ability to work across traditional disciplinary boundaries and a high commitment to actively contribute to the activities of the Institute of Management and EMbeDS. In particular, successful candidates will be expected to conduct research in the field of Statistics and Management and their applications in social, economic and business research areas.
More precisely, the position in Statistics will concern statistical and data science methods applied to the analysis of large datasets in support of decision-making for environmental, innovation and healthcare management.
The position in Business Administration will concern data analysis for performance evaluation of public sector services – especially in the area of healthcare. Successfull candidates will be also expected to teach in PhD programs, Master programs and executive training courses.
In a recent research quality evaluation conducted in Italy (VQR 2011-2014), the Institute of Management ranked 8th among departmental units in Economics and Management, , and the School ranked 2nd among universities. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the School ranked 1st in Italy, 149th worldwide and 7th among young universities. In addition to our renowned undergraduate and Master-level programs, we have well established PhD programs in both Economics and Management. Starting in 2017-18, in a consortium with Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa), the University of Pisa, the National Research Council and the IMT School for Advanced Studies of Lucca, we also offer a novel PhD program in Data Science.
