IL FISCO DEL FUTURO: NUOVE TECNOLOGIE, SEMPLIFICAZIONE TRIBUTARIA E LOTTA ALL’EVASIONE - workshop

New technologies, in particular the use of big data and machine learning, are an opportunity to create smarter taxation procedures -- which simplify life for the taxpayers and at the same time facilitate fulfillments. These technologies can therefore be a tool to greatly reduce tax evasion with preventive and fair measures. A possible objection to the use of new technologies are the risks of violating taxpayers' privacy. Is this a real threat? To answer the question we need to understand what it actually means to use these techniques to improve compliance, and we must adopt a shared approach to measuring their costs and benefits.
